My paintings depict a personal mythology. They examine internalized stories and create (or recreate) both an individualized and universal history. I am fascinated by the Jungian theory of collective unconscious and the role of archetypes in storytelling and the human experience. I explore narratives passed on through family and culture and the ways in which the dialogue between the self and the shadow influence our perceptions of reality. I paint to convey an internal world where stories from my childhood are alive; their plural and plastic meanings constantly fluctuating, and the ways in which these stories reconcile the self and its shadow.
